Stubby got her name when she was little. She was born with a full size tail but something happened to it. I don't know if her Mom chewed it by accident or one of her siblings did, but only part of it was there by the time she opened her eyes. I kept her because of this. I think it's endearing and gives her personality. She is a nice gentle girl and loves sitting on my shoulder and going for a ride. Though her tail is shorter it doesn't seem to hinder her balance any. She's a great kid! I love her a lot. |
Update: 12/10/10 I am so sad! Today I found Stubby and four other ratties dead in the big girls cage in the basement. My gigantic ferret cage. There were five others in this cage that were fine. We couldn't find anything wrong with the five that died, but what we did find was one of the water bottles at the bottom of the cage had been untouched, it was still full. Lee said when he went to check on everyone he noticed three of the bottles were empty but there was still one on the bottom that was full so he thought they had enough water. We think the bottle at the bottom was still full because it was malfunctioning, thus several died of dehydration. We have since replaced it with a new one. She was way to young to have her life taken away. She was so pretty and had such awesome conformation. There is nothing worse that can happen than to lose one of your best pet rats in this manner. As of 07/21/10 her health is excellent! |
