Presenting: RDPY Snow Queen

Update: 03/30/08: Queenie left today for the Rainbow Bridge. She lived a good long life and it was a quality life. The tumor was not a factor in her ending days. She also never got sick. She didn't have heart disease or respiratory problems. I believe her heart just stopped beating because it was her time to go.

She was a very nice rattie and I miss her already, but she's gone to a really fun place and has lots of friends, brothers and sisters to play with once she arrives. She out lived all of them.

UPDATE: 11/12/06 I had bred Queenie to Canyon. Her expected due date was November 12th. On the 11th I saw blood on her bedding covers but no babies. I think she may have cannibalized them, therefore I've retired her. Queenie not producing offspring saddens me as her sister Poppy died trying to give birth and I was hoping Queenie could carry on the line for her.

Breeders Note: As a breeder keeping the numbers down in litter size is a consideration. Therefore, I've noticed that if I wait until a female is around a year old to breed them I will get small litters of no more than six babies, but I'm also seeing a higher percentage of them cannibalizing their young. It's almost like they don't know what they are or what to do with them as they get older. It's not that they are being mean or cruel. It's just they don't seem to want to "bother" with the process.
