What a great rattie "Lightening Bug" is! She is such a little doll. She is part of my new start toward megacolon free high white lines. I'm hoping to produce healthy ratties with unique facial markings, BEW's and Dalmatians as time goes on. Many times when you try to breed ratties with blazes and unique facial markings their markings prove to be fatal to them, with babies getting megacolon, a genetic defect that kills them, usually when they are around 4-6 weeks old. It's very heartbreaking. There are only a few ratteries around that have mastered genetically, what can be paired with what, regarding the spotting gene, and Lightening Bug is one of the outcomes of their hard work. I'm very lucky to have received the great ratties from TTR that produced this little darling. |
Update: 06/30/08 Light had her second litter of babies. Though she is now thirteen months old she had thirteen squeakers. She is very fertile and strong. Her health and temperament have remained steadfast. Update: 05/19/08 On April 21st Light had twelve babies. She turned out to be such a great Mother! The babies are almost four weeks old and will be weaned by the end of this week. Light's children love her so much. There were four of them giving her kisses all over her face a few minutes ago and grooming her. Then a couple pounced on her back and head, walking all over the top of her and she just laid there without moving an inch. She is so patient and tolerant, it's so cute. As of: 7/14/07 her health is excellent. |
