She is a darling little bundle of fur! So sweet and fun. I love dwarfie's personalities, they are such high energy and they are so brave for how small they are. | Update: 09/01/10 Duce has passed on. Duce was pregnant and had complications with the birthing process. I tried to help her and make sure the babies weren't breech or caught sideways in the canal opening but she started to lose blood and the babies would not come out. She went into shock. I tried wrapping her in a towel to keep her warm and holding her and talking to her. But I couldn't get her to come out of shock and lost her at 5pm. (Caution PG14) I got brave and did an autopsy. She had five babies, all were dead. It was interesting to see three were in one pouch and two in the other lined up one after the other. The first one in the pouch of three appeared to be breech so it was probably moving the other way out of the canal and wouldn't let the other ones pass. Having the first born be breach appears to mean fatality for all others plus the mother. I'm not sure what I can do to avoid this type of thing or whether this is just Mother Nature, luck of the draw, and out of our control. I took all the babies out of their sacks and cleaned them off and set them in between her arms so she could hold them, the little things she tried so hard to bring into this world and gave her life for. Though she had passed, some part of me knows she loved seeing and holding them from a spiritual perspective. She was the sweetest little thing. She loved to curl her tail up in a curly que when she ran on her wheel and walked around with it curled up like that also. She was affectionate and friendly and just the best little buddy. My heart is broken but I'm glad I was there at the end and I could comfort her in her final moments. She went peacefully. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. As of 07/01/09 Health is Excellent! |
