Coughy Bean got his name because he has always sneezed and coughed since he was little. He has allergies. Some days he is fine others, things in his environment bother him. He is the sweetest, lovest rattie. Very outgoing and active. He isn't afraid of anything.
He also likes to take sips my my decaffinated coffee. He likes the milk I put it in. I dip my finger in the cub and he licks it off. I have a picture of him where he is perched on the rim of the cup trying to help himself. He is a real character and gets me laughing so hard at his antics. He is such a Mama's boy. He always comes running to me to cuddle and pet him. He is a very loving and affectionate rattie. He gives me kisses.
As of 03/03/05, besides being proned to coughing spells, he is a healthy boy, big and active and alert.
03/06 Coughy Bean got his tail bitten by the cage mates below him, then from walking on his wheel it wouldn't heal. I had to take his wheel away from him, so he would just sit still and let it heal.
07/01/07 Beaner has been ill a couple of times. I thought he was going to die a couple days ago, but antibiotics seem to be clearing up his respiratory problems and he's sleeping comfortably today. He is almost bald, is going blind in his right eye and can hardly walk, but he's just a good old guy and a real fighter. I've never seen a rattie so determined to live.
A while back I had asked him to stick around for my birthday and I think he really is trying to even though the other night when he was gasping for a breath I told him he go leave for the Rainbow Bridge and I would understand.
07/02/07 Well I guess I was wrong about Beaner getting better. Though his breathing was better and he seemed comfortable he died during the night or early this morning. He was laying on his side, his eyes were closed but his mouth was open, and he was blue, so lack of oxygen was a factor. Maybe his heart finally gave out. I'm relieved that he doesn't have to suffer any longer. I loved him very much and we had many fun times together. He could always get me to laugh and smile. I will miss him. Bye Beaner guy.
07/14/07 Beaner has been gone almost two weeks now. He is buried in a special memorial garden on our property. Today I'm moving his file to my memorial page. Beaner always liked to eat cheesepuffs and when free roaming would climb up my leg and cuddle inside my shirt and eat his treats. Just as I'm writing this I felt something on the inside of my pant leg. I brushed it away but nothing was there. Just then I realized whose memorial I was working on. Do you think it could have been Beaner, letting me know he was thinking of me too?
